It would be better all round if there was a single championship for the Mk1 and Mk3 models, but people can be very protective of their championships, from a commercial and passion point of view, they would say why should they relinquish their control and if their entry numbers justify the running costs, which must mean particular drivers prefare a less intense championship, so be it.

In terms of numbers regarding MX5 Mk3 racing, the BRSCC Super Cup is now the main championship, despite a shaky start in early 2013, after drivers lost confidence the Ma5da run series in 2012. That confidence has returned, so numbers will be in the 20's in 2014, the BRSCC Super Cup.
