PT has always been a fast guy. His record doesn't show it. A good part of it was due to his inconsistancy. Team Green often had sporatic sucess. Dario had the same problems as PT (ignoring '99).
As for Kannan, as a CART defector I don't think any of us want him to win over Tracy. In all fairness, PT is faster than Kannan, peroid.
