He missed more than that.
Thompson's approach to motor racing this year has been bizarre - competing in too many championships to actually be able to win any of them.
I presume he had no real interest in becoming BTCC or DTC champion - his focus appears to be the WTCC - though I expect he'd hope to be racing for someone a little more competitive than Lada next year.
