I think the first pair of blisters on the roof have the same function like the handle bars on the Dome. They hold the car in the required minimum height of the second roll bar and allow the engine cover falling down a bit steeper for improved airflow towards the rear wing. The second pair on the engine cover are needed to create space for some parts on the engine/gearbox unit.
