Interesting that Surfers is the opening round of the season, I had assumed there would be a start in Europe at the beginning of October.

There was an article in Autosport magazine a while back in which Pete da Silva said they were considering starting in Asia-Pacific and working their way around the globe to Europe, rather than starting in Europe and going in a loop. I can't remember the actual reason for it though...
