That's certainly not true.
While there always has to be an element of meritocracy (it is a race after all), the BTCC TV coverage is excellent when it comes to focussing on the closest battles rather than just following the front-runners.
Indeed there were several occasions during 2009, particularly when Turkington drove away from the front of the field, that you never saw the leader until half way around his final lap.
