Brock and Perkins winning for the second time around - this time in very commanding style - making it 100 % for the new VK.

A fair few new Group A cars around for this race. In fact no less than 17 of the new bread was entered for the race, of which 16 turned up.

The two TWR Rovers has been dealt with in the Rover Vitesse thread, but keep informations flowing - so is the Peter Williamson Supra and the reworked Network Alfa GTV6 - Alfa Romeo F1 driver at the time, Riccardo Patrese, was suggested for the car, but never appeared. The John Craft Capri did a fine job at Sandown and would do likewise here. Lawrie Nelson rebuild his '85 Mustang to '83 specifications and was allowed to race the car. Two other Mustangs appeared. Dick Johnson mirrored his green #17 Ford Falcon, running his newly acquired white #71 Zakspeed Mustang during practice and qualifying, while Don Smith had Bo Seton build him a third 'Stang.
Laurie Hazelton would have a second Ford Capri (another Group C convert?) with the Chris Heyer Audi 5+5 definitely being a former Group C car as was the Ray Gulson Alfa GTV6. The Arnel-brothers had a former Group E Mitsubishi Starion Turbo at their disposal, while the Equipe Sixty Six car was a brand new car. Frank Gardner and the JPS team had a European sourced 635CSi for Denny Hulme and Leopold von Bayern and I'm not sure if this car had a pre-history. The final two Group A cars would be the Toyota AE86s of the official Dealer Team and Bob Holden. I'm somewhat intriegued by the American Flying Tigers Toyota Celica Supra entry. As there never were an American Group A series, where would this car be based? Flying Tigers were seen on the 1981 World Endurance winning Bob Garretson Porsche 935s - any relations to this entry?
