GP3 wet weather rules inconsistancies
Three times in the past year GP3 have seen a sudden rain shower just before the race start, and officials have taken 3 different approaches. Last year the drivers had to start the race as scheduled, pitting on the warm-up lap if they felt their tyre choice was wrong. Silverstone this year, start delayed. And now Hockenheim, race starts under the safety car, forcing those who were on slicks to pit - just before the red flag comes out. Do the rules not still allow for a complete restart, reverting to the original grid positions drivers had earnt?
And what about some consistency? Is this all part of the tendency that we no longer see real starts in full-wet conditions for supposed safety reasons?
