As last year in FIA GT2 and GT3, there's not much of a difference between the two classes anymore in terms of lap times, and the RSR is A LOT more expensive to run. "GT3 speed for GT1-money" as Speedweek wrote a few weeks ago...

So, Manthey is running GT3 R's as a cost saving option; smart move if they still get the same performance as running an RSR.
