I think the point he is getting at is, the artificial restrictions used by all the sports cars series make proving which car is better a farce as the cars are not regulated by weight to engine size, which leaves it up to the tuner and driver to get best performance, but by artificial restrictors on the engines which controls the cars performance, factory design being irrelevant, in the same manner as NASCAR, contrived competition.
