Exactly. Once a certain number of cars are sold I'm sure there is a bit of profit for the company, but the parts and service they provide afterwards is also probably a significant part of the equation.
I don't think the companies see racing as providing income to the company's bottom line as a whole, but instead try to at least cover more of the racing cost through racing profits.
