According to their press release, Audi is now concerned with competition and who they win against. That makes Penske's bid difficult since it will look bad if Audi walks over everybody and discourages some competitors from entering. Highcroft is even more questionable because that means hiring the best ALMS team and not getting competition from 2-time series champions.
And of course Wayne Taylor would need to step up his game (although he was pretty much the one behind the Cadillac prototype program in 2002) and to find a main sponsor...
