Wolfgang Kaufmann confirms withdraw reasons:

Just as 2008, Wolfgang Kaufmann had the 6h of Vallelunga on his calendar this year. The sportscar professional from Germany was to run in the Gold Cup again with the LM P1 car of Monegasque owner/driver/constructor Giovanni Lavaggi. Due to a lack of starters, the organisers decided to merge the GT & sportscar "Gold Cup" race with the "Silver Cup" for touringcars.

"Vallelunga is a very fast circuit with some blind sections. I really was looking forward to doing this race at Vallelunga with Giovanni; after all, we where on the pole and won our class in 2008. This year we wanted the overall victory, and Scuderia Lavaggi has worked for this very hard. Giovanni and his team deserved it so much. They spend so much effort, power and lifeblood, they are always motivated and fantastic folks.”

But the difference in speed between an LM P1 prototype and a significantly slower touringcar poses an enormour safety risk, and has led Scuderia Lavaggi to withdraw their entry.
