Actually, McLaren did expect Perez to be pushing Button from his very first race for them. Perez cannot afford to go the same way that Kovalainen did. As for the car being designed for Button's driving style, well, if he wanted a car that was prone to understeer or oversteer, or both, depending on whether or not there's an 'R' in the month, then that's precisely what he's got.
