Bluebottle, I had one the other week for a trip up in Qld, the just-superceded model. Was averaging 35mpg on the highway including lots of full-throttle use for overtaking (v. good for this!) then dropped back to 32mpg after running around the city. That was a base-model with the 4sp auto, the ZF 6sp models do noticeably better. While a Mondeo would be more economical while having the same amount of room, a Falcon is a good thing to tow with (2300kg capacity) - compare to a 4wd you never take off road? (No offence if you have one!)
