This sort of flip has been happening in Sports Cars for many years. It happened about 1965 to John Surtees at Mosport, and someone else, as I recall. Surtees was hospitalised for a time with his injuries.
At Bathurst in 1969 such a flip claimed the live of Bevan Gibson.
