Prior to the final two races on 17th October, four drivers had the opportunity to become overall champion.
At the head of this group was Stan Bernard, followed by John Marshall, Andrew Smith and Nic Boyes.
These four drivers had already secured victory in their respective classes.
Twenty –six cars appeared for qualifying, which was headed by Andrew Smith.
He converted this into victory in race one, followed by messrs Bernard and Marshall.
Further down the field there were many intense battles; between Tommy Gilmartin and Adam Bernard,
and a four car group separated by less than two seconds at the finish :
Shonny Paterson, Jimmy Crow, Russell Paterson and Robert Marshall.
Race two was again won by Smith, followed this time by John Marshall who set a new class B record.
Third place was taken by Class C competitor Willie Robertson, with Stan Bernard, also Class C , finishing fourth.
This was decisive, as Bernard’s failure to take maximum class points meant that John Marshall
became overall champion by one point.
Midfield action continued with similar intensity to race one and provided great entertainment for spectators.
