For me, it would have to be an M5. 500bhp, looks aggressive yet understated, quite happy on a run to the shops yet still has loads of power if you want some fun.
As you are moving in with your girlfriend, an M5 can "future proof" you as it has a decent boot for strollers and loads of space on the back seat for baby chairs
