It does sound as though you've blown a fuse or a relay somewhere.

Most radios need two power supplies, one which is permanently on to maintain memory settings & a switched supply, only on when the ignition is on. If I read it correctly, you're saying that the original unit now asks for the code every time you switch on? If so, that's a sure sign that you've lost the permanent feed. Saxo wiring will, I believe, be the same as a Peugeot 106; if so, look at fuse 8 in the fusebox in the passenger compartment - that protects radio memory, central locking, luggage/interior light & infra-red signal receiver.

The problem with ISO connectors is that different car & radio manufacturers appear to use different pins for the live feeds!
