Mark - have you tried
Babel Fish? It's pretty crummy for proper gramatical translating, but it might give you an idea of what the letter is about. And if you're still having difficulty translating it, PM it over to me - I don't speak a word of French but my brother is fluent, so I'll borrow his brain for a while.
