Deutsche Tourenwagen Trophäe was a different series which exited until 1996. it had multiply classes including the 2 liter Group N cars, iirc it was the class with the most entires. DTC used simliar cars when it started in 1995, in 1996 a lot of teams moved from DTT to DTC as the costs for the cars were a bit lower and also DTCs popularity grew fast thanks to the live tv coverage on DSF.
