Chris Townsend should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Any data? Quite a lot, though actual chassis numbers are both debatable and included in a forthcoming book, to which I've been allowed a preview. So I'm going to leave those to the author, if he wants to include them pre-publication, and deal in separate entities

Firstly, easy to confuse a B14 and a B15B
Gelb's car is described as a B15B. Gelb gave me the chassis number FB-68-8 and said it came from Tom Tufts. This makes it a B14, which is also how Tufts car is described in Chevron records, but with a completely different chassis number!

B14s
Three built
A: Opert to Tom Tufts: Capital Auto & Tire [Lotus 27 in p/x see opert stock list 1.10.68] to Tom Gelb 1969, wrecked late season. Gelb retired from racing and sold rebuilt car in 1970

B: Peter Broeker retained to 1970 and perhaps longer

C: Grimaldi

Problem car: Dick Smothers has a Chevron in 1968 that in photos looks like a B14, but Opert stock list 21.8.68 says three B14s sold to Tufts, Grimaldi [who appears Lime Rock in August] and Broeker and quotes 6 weeks lead time for new cars, so was the Smothers car a B9B?

Warren Flickinger appears in a Chevron in 1969 at a time when Gelb, Broeker and Grant all have B14s, but calling it a B15B is no help either! By 1969 John Kelly was running an ex F3 B9 in FB and I wonder if it's either a B9B of which there are no records, or a coverted F3

B15B [all 1969]

A: (Maybe 15B-69-01) Opert then to Doug Brenner 1970 [however, this might be Wisell's Sebring car instead]; 1973 probably with Doug Turner running FC in California;

B: Dick Smothers 1969 to Joe Alves f/s CPAW 22.9.70 p.31 4176 Rosario Road, Woodland Hills CA 91364

C: Jim Grob f/s CPAW 21.11.70 p.34 HRE engine but retained 1971.

D: Jacques Couture 1969 then unknown

E: Hugh Kleinpeter, retained 1970

F: To Steve Matchett but unraced. Probably sold to Steve Brownstein

G: Reine Wisell Sebring 1969. Works record says to South Africa, but Doug Brenner says his 1970 car was ex Wisell...

H: John Moulds as F3 car, to Bob Howlings in 1970.

Problem cars
1969
Steve Brownstein, appears regularly and car retained 1970. f/s CPAW 10.10.70 p.26 roller blue & green 'last year's top Chevron' 69 Prospect Ave Hewlett NY 11557

Syd Demovsky, appears from mid season and retained 1970

1970 cars
Skip Walther f.s CPAW 10.10.70 p.26 6313 Mad River Road Dayton OH 45459
Larry Wright (appears only Elkhart Lake so might be hire deal)
Jerry Craft For Sale Comp Press & Autoweek 22.8.70 p.26
Opert keeps one car...(Suggesting that the Brenner car might well be Wisell's not 01)
Pete Darr (FC/FB) f/s CPAW 14.11.70 p. 25 'works convert to F2; Lotus t/c' Government Camp ORE 'convert to F2' suggests this might be a B15 F3 car, but can't see which

1971
Steven Mandy has a car retained in 1972

1972
Atlantic veteran Bill O'Connor debuts in the formula with a B15B

1973-1974
Doug Turner FC

1974
Dave Yoder SCCA Florida (so probably the Grob or Kleinpeter car)
