Eddie Irvine liked to confuse the administrators too. He was officially British (being from Northern Ireland), but his racing licence was issued from Dublin (being in Rep. of Ireland). This coupled with driving for Jordan, having 'Ireland' on the car and driving in testing with a tricolour on the car at Jordan led to confusion. They put the Irish flag up on the podium in Melbourne in 1996 too.
Its the Jack Charlton syndrome again, when the team used to sing the national anthem, God Save the Taoiseach.
