They also can't really lower the roof because that'd require a new tub design (and re-homologation including crash testing), something that Porsche hasn't adopted and probably won't until their 2018 car.

Sorry to confuse, I don't mean the roof, just the overall height of the fin? Similar to what Toyota have done, just left the mandatory part where the comms are.
The cover seems more slender from the intake area down towards the rear.
