there's no aggressive highs like there is in f1, the only things that get a little bit close to wanting ear protection for are some of the ferraris. everything else is quiet enough that hearing protection is more to give your ears a break from the constant noise rather than stop the high notes from hurting.

It's true that most of the cars have become quieter, but I find the scream of the ferrari and the Rebellion toyota pretty painfull to the ears. The TS040 was a more deep scream not that high pitched noise.
