Lee: you only serve to strengthen my point. In the US, the roads are wide and straight. Cars don't need to go around corners. A car that would be utter rubbish anywhere else (save Australia) is "passable" in the US. There is no deed to develop decent cars, petrol is free, "I only stop for Alberquerque".
The US can't build cars anyone would WANT to drive, merely ones that people HAVE to drive (it's too far to walk). And that's FINE.
