If the main FIA championship loses a lot of teams to the GPWC, then the A1 might have a lot of teams and drivers on offer to replace them from 2008, so it's definitely in Bernie's interests to work with these guys as much as possible. At the least, it'll be a good chance for F1 teams to assess young talent that can't get a chance in F1.
I don't think GPWC will happen - they'd be starting it up without any heirtage or history to fall back on, without most of the world's great circuits, and with a guarantee of infighting in temrs of setting rules - look at the various US championships to see how this works in the end.
