A1GP’s provisional calendar, released back in May, carried a few iffy points, most notably perhaps the proposition of a street race in San Antonio, Texas, a venue untried by the USA’s own open-wheel series.

And while A1 officials insist the Texan street race will eventually come to fruition, San Antonio has been replaced by Brazil’s Curitiba road course in the series’ revised calendar, set to be confirmed later this week, according to Autosport-Atlas.

After drifting into oblivion in the ’80s, the track in Curitiba - a city of 1.5 million located 250 miles south of Sao Paulo - was completely renovated in 1995 and currently ranks as one of Brazil’s top motorsport facilities. Besides hosting all of the country’s major road-racing championships, the circuit held a World Series by Nissan event back in 2002.
