McLaren Autosprout Award - Long-awaited Poll!!!

OK, based on the discussion in the "McLaren Autosport Award- Your personal choices" thread, I've put together a poll so we can see who WE think should be nominated (the top six in this poll) and who WE think should win (the top one).

The nominees on the poll are the drivers who have had the most honourable mentions in the discussion so far, well, 9 of them, and a "someone else" category.

Those of you who think that Lewis Hamilton should get it, please keep that to yourselves, cos he's withdrawn from the running due to his connections with the Wokking outfit.

So: vote for the ONE driver you most think should be nominated, cos you want them to win.

Just for fun, I've listed the choices in order of the number of honourable mentions they've received from us.

Tim Bridgman? Accept all the others, but not Tim. There's no doubt he's talented, but compared to all the others he's not done enough to merit being included. His time will come.

Tut, tut Puablo. Did someone steal your toys? Poor baby!

That's the in kind response. If you have the bxxxs to come out from behind the screen of anononimity I'd be happy to debate the logic behind your comment in a more adult fashion. However, I'm not holding my breath.

Bella - I thought this forum was about people expressing thier views and not about childish, personal comments like the one made by Mr Escobar.

In the context I was wrong to respond with my comment, as this was sinking to Mr Escobar's level.

The fact is my comment was made about Tim in good faith.

I believe it was Mr Jinx who made the point some days ago that the Autosport award scheme is intended to help young drivers who have not only proved their driving potential, but also their ability to raise the money to progress. In other words there's no point in the money being allocated to a driver who is talented, but without money.

In this context, I wouldn't presume to know what Tim's financial situation is. However, (talented as he may be) I do know that as yet his achievements don't match those of the other people who are in the poll. This said, I've no doubt that with another season under his belt in FR or FF he will be a legitimate contender for the Autosport award. That is my point, nothing personal against Tim, just an honest opinion.

Silence from Mr Escobar. Has he fled the country to South America, rather than debate the truth? The public needs to know!!

If its of any interest, I have quite enjoyed Jamies drives this year. I think he has done very well for his first year in F3. Granted he is with a top team, however the pressure of being in a top team must also be not as easy as having a year further down learning the cars and how F3 works.

Ben Cluclas has also impressed, I would have like to have seen how he'd gone without the budget problems.

Not sure Susie belong in there, she has had one of her best years, but it has not been THAT great. Total respect to her though as she'd beat the pants of me.

Kimber-Smith is an interesting one, surly he must be a contender for this after his Formula Ford win, however I don't remember watching him race and thinking "wow.." It seems like he has won the championship being (just for example - no fact here) consistantly third with the odd win where as Danielson/Clucas seem to have been fighting for it all the time, I hope my point comes across on this.

The others have not really got much interest from me.

Jamie Green isn't eligible as he is:

A) In Class A F3.
B) The 2002 winner!

Why shouldn't Susie be in there?

I think she's outstanding, and doesn't get nearly enough acknowledgement. I really hope she's in F3 next year.

ahhh that explains why he has not been mentioned, I didn't know class A F3 where not elidigble, why is that ? I had no idea he won it last year.

sgrok - I too think Susie is doing well and is having one of her best seasons, I just don't think she is shining against others, maybe next year as she is certainly on the up.

Hot Rumour.
The six that are in the final

Lloyd, Rossiter, Kimber-Smith, Clucas, England and Sttodart

If this is true then it should give us something to talk about for a week or so.

Sorry, know you said keep it to yourselves, but Lewis is also six days too young to enter!

And hi to all, as I've just joined.

I don't think Lewis is too young? He'll be 19 in 3 months - at the beginning of January - he's 18 now.

I think the thing is that you had to be 18 on the 1st of January, Lewis was still 17.

Exactly! That was what I was trying to say!

I'd quite like to see Tom Kimber-Smith win it - I think he's a good, talented young driver, who'll go far!

Thet are all good young talented drivers. What is the award all about? Whoever is the fastest in F3? Or in a tin top? Whoever is the most bubbly personality? Whoever needs the money most? Whoever has the most potential? Politics? What are the criteria?

I know they're all good talented young drivers, but K-S has that "extra bit." My view is that it's to do with the best driver all round- physically fit, mentally with it, and can drive different cars which they may not be used to well, and quickly.
