RiZLa should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Driver points

How do the driver points work??, how many do you need to get before you get punished?, and what are the punishments?, also how long do they last for?, the whole season or just for x number of races?

You've lost me?!

Drivers don't get punished on points rewarded to them, you may be thinking of the success ballast they get for finishing in certain positions.

well aren't race licences like road licences - you can get up to 12 then you lose your licence and are banned - for how long I think is variable. Sometimes, drivers will get a fine, or just points, but mostly points and a fine go hand in hand. OTOH, you can get banned from a race weekend, like Phil Bennett was in 2001.

Methinks it's a bit of a grey area these punishments!

From this years's BTCC Sporting Regs
Quote:
2.2. Endorsement of Drivers’ Licences:

2.2.1. Should a driver be attributed a total of eight or more penalty points by the BTCC Clerk and/or the BTCC Stewards during the current Championship, the BTCC Clerk will deduct up to a maximum of 8 Championship points from the total score of that driver even if this results in a minus score.

Should a driver subsequently be attributed a total of 12 or more penalty points by the BTCC Clerk and/or the BTCC Stewards during the current Championship, the BTCC Clerk will deduct up to a maximum of 23 Championship points from the total score of that driver even if this results in a minus score. In addition, the BTCC Clerk will refer the matter to the Administrator who may impose any of the additional Championship penalties set out in 4.4.

The deduction of Championship points in this way will only apply to the BTC Touring Drivers’ Championship, the BTC Touring Independents Trophy for Drivers Championship and the BTC Production Drivers’ Championship and will not apply to the BTC Touring Manufacturers’ or Teams’ Championship or the BTC Production Teams’ Championship.
