Team Superfund enter 2010 season
Yep, the former Minardi sponsors are at an advanced stage of plans to enter F1 in 2010 with a team. They've signed a deal with Cosworth and Alex Wurz is fronting the project as team principal. The plan is to "align the team with an existing constructor based in the UK"
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/75753 Wow, bet no one saw that one coming |

Would Superfund pair up with Lola or Williams?

That might also refer to Wirth.

Going on the Alex Wurz quote, it would seem that the plan is to link up with an existing British constructor, which is slightly different from team. If the intention was to operate with as existing team, then there would be no need to submit a seperate entry as presumably the team would have already done so. As such, it is possible that entities such as Formtech could be a possibility.

I'm not saying they're going to buy Brawn. The FOTA proposal on the table is to give technical assistance to new teams. So essentially it wouldn't be out of the realms of possibility that they're going to become a Brawn B team
It had been suggested (can't remember by who - might have been Saward) that some of the losing applicants could join forces with successful applicants. Perhaps they're Lola's back-up plan |

To expand a bit on my previous post: It's been said that Wirth never planned to enter a race team themselves, they wanted to build the cars for a team. That's why I thought of them when I read the quote.

Alex Wurz has a contract with Peugeot, I hope that doesn't tie him down too much. I still would have thought he could have used that link to have Peugeot engines or something of the sort.

Based in Bicester too. Wasn't sure whether they were based in Britain or the States given that they do a lot of their work out there |

Well, they said they could've done it had they wanted to - the interest was there. It was the uncertainty that did them in - no doubt Ferrari will be pleased

A shame, as RML is one of the "bigger" names of the prospective entrants, up there with Prodrive really. They have a good history of past motorsport success.
Again, a shame. |

I'm not sorry. I live not far from the Wellingborough plant, and it would annoy the hell out of me as the F1 brigade came into town and brainwashed all my freinds.

Anyone know what happened to Superfunds original driver Norbert Seidler? Think he was the only Austrian driver NOT sponsored by Red Bull at that time.
