Pistonbroke should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Prescott Hillclimb

Anyone know who won the Donald Munro Marshal's Award (a nice scratch-built Bugatti Type 43) this year?

I believe (and could be entirely wrong) that the award is presented at the BOC annual lunch which is in Feb, or at least it was several years ago when I was awarded it as I seem to remember it clashed with Rescue training so unfortunately I could'nt collect it in person.

So in answer to your question Pistonbroke I dont think it has been awarded yet!

Hello chaps, I can tell you that the Munro Marshals award this year was made to young David Smith at the awards lunch a few weeks ago.

David has been coming to Prescott for many years and has always become an integral part of the team, working in hill control for a few years now.

A fitting reward to a a talent that was originally spotted and nurtured by my predecessor as chief Marshal, the late Robin Davey.

Well done david...the beers are on you!

Jim

An excellent choice and well deserved. David is one of those marshals who will turn his hand willingly to whatever needs doing, and invariably does it well.

Congratulations, and very well done.

If this is the same trophy I,m thinking of,it,s a T55 coloured black and yellow.
Myself and a guy called John Chappel rebuilt it as a project during our apprenticeships at Rootes Group Coventry.
We got it because one of our instructors was a guy called"max"Miller, who was also the start Marshall at Prescott.
The trophy had not been presented for quite a few years and was in pretty bad shape.I made new windscreen frame, screen and steering wheel,John did other details,i forget what, but it ended up beingreturned to the BOC,while John and I became marshalls, often sleeping overnight in the timekeepers hut,and spent quite a few nights in the pub in Gotherington with a lot of the competitors-great times.
Well done Dave on winning the trophy

I would be most interested if he were the self same Max,as pretty well not a week goes by without me remembering some obscure workshop practice method that he taught me.I now work on pre 1900 antique guns and frequently have to make new parts,I can always hear him over my shoulder, while I,m filing something up for final fitting--remember lad,it,s like a young lady, slow steady strokes makes for a much better finish.
Same guy ays it,s possible in the front passenger side of an MG TC

Thanks Ian, you are of course right and it's a T55. I wondered why the wings were in plastic on a model first presented in 1938. I'm afraid the windscreen has now gone AWOL again! If you'd like to PM me your e-mail address I'll send you some pics of the model and the painting my artist father in law did of it.

Try contacting the Bugatti owners club. I,m sure they would pass on your details to him.

I must thank all of you with reference to Max Miller,it,s amazing the twists and turns a forum thread can go through.I was able to contact John Hicks of the BOC [Thanks rescue dude] and have been able to get in touch with Max,John also sent me a very nice picture of Max taken earlier this year.
I don,t know if Max has ever won the award, but if not for him the trophy would have been a sorry forgotten relic, just a thought guys
Thanks again
Ian
