JJ Lehto

Hi,

I am a supporter of JJ Lehto and I want to know if there are some news about JJ.
BMW M3 is a possibility?
Thanks Ciao.

Last time he raced was in the Speedcar Series (lol at that series) last winter iirc. I think he participated in one or two races.

CET Solaroli + ALMS + RS Spyder project is dead, so it seems.

I wouldn't expect to see Lehto again in anything substantial.

Just wondering why? I'd have love to see what he could have done in a Peugeot in the wet at Le Mans this year.......

Cant see why he might not be considered for a BMW GT2 drive , after all he did win the ALMS GT2 championship for them , regardless of if the car was legal or not ..... nothing to do with him .

I guess Audi wernt too impressed with him , otherwise he should have had a drive with them .

Be great to see him throwing that beast about the track .

Do you know what exactly happened? It seemed almost like a sure thing and suddenly there was no information at all. I'm very curious what was theal with all that.

Wasn't it that he hated not driving for overall wins? I think I remember reading somewhere that he virtually vowed to never drive again in a position (or class), where he wasn't going for the overall win.

I think so too. For past years he has been commentator for F1 broadcasts.

He is getting old. And fat.

How about he hasn't had any offers to drive - anything.

Actually from what I know he just hasn't had an active interest in pursuing driving opportunities. It's a two way street.

You're right that its a two way street - if there's no money coming in, there's no driving coming out.

JJ had a back surgery about a year ago and has said that his body isn't fit for racing anymore.

After JJ lost his Audi contract (due to the wreck he caused in the R8 with the Zytek in turn one on lap one at Petit a few years ago) has he raced anything significant? He was a great sportscar driver, that got into a few wrecks..... to bad.

That's pretty much the most uninformed thing I've ever read on this board - or any other. Not only was he not under contract to Audi, but...

The crash JJ Letho was behind at Le Mans in 1999, with the Williams BMW LMR leading, certainly didnt help his career.

Or Toms for that matter. The official story was that the throttle jammed, the unofficial story is somewhat different.

It is up to anyone, to have an attitude towards which one is true.
