Best GP Ever !!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was today
WELKOM to the world of real racers, no one moaning that they are going to fast! No one in HANS bondage gear trussed in an F1 pile of carbon fibre baby saftey seat.
Wheel to wheel racing where the world number 1 cocks a snook at the number 1 manufacturer and says catch me if you can on an infereior machine. I am the best! Oh yes MOTO GP is where it is at. Tell Bernie, Max, Shooie and the boys to get along and watch some real racers. Guys who put there life on the line without all the nambi pambi F1 safety with speeds upto 215.8 MPH. Message past on from your old friend CATMAN in Welkom. Cheers Folks Jealous Son Of Catman in Brighton Last edited by CATMAN; 18 Apr 2004 at 21:31. |

But you don't see drivers win races on inferior machinery on merit like Rossi and Chili did today do you? |

Hmmm, you could hardly call it 'inferior machinery'.
The track had short straights that worked to Rossi's advantage, and he rode brilliantly. And one more point, did you miss Michael in the Ferrari in 96-99? |

Well, slightly inferior then. And yes, I did see Michael in the Ferrari, he did just as brilliantly. Maybe Michael should go to Williams or McLaren and start again - he'd love it and so would F1 |

Except for the stupidity of sending largely unprotected human beings at those speeds, moto GP has it ALL over f1.
Easy passing would be just be the start of the arguments for moto GP.f1 could learn alot from bikes (d*mn,f1 could learn alot from a children for goodness sakes!!!) Last edited by RWC; 19 Apr 2004 at 04:35. |

Yes, now only if we could have no aerodynamics and cars a few cm wide we would be there

Jokes aside, that's right the kind of emotions Vale needed to find back.

I hardly think the Ferrari was inferior Wrex (96-99).Also let's not forget the traction control in the Benneton.Saying that MS is absolutely brilliant just not as good as Rossi!!!!!

I happened to catch the end of that race - I don't normally watch bikes. It was stunning - however I was convinced Biaggi and Rossi were going to crash - the crazy wobbling as the power went down, the rear wheel lifting under braking!. I'm not sure I could stomach watching a whole race let alone a season of that kind of thing. I prefer a nice relaxing Sunday with my F1, a cup of tea and some biscuits

I always thought FIM GPs were way ahead F1 in terms of racing pureness from 80s to now. And CART 10-20 years ago was superb too.
I told FIM GPs because the greatest thing is they have three usually great races per weekend (appart from exciting qualifying sessions). In welkom 250cc was very nice. When MotoGP and 250cc fail, the 125cc race comes in rescue and does a cracking race Well, I have not put it clearly, I *do like* FIM races! |

I agree with that driver fello above.
Rossi did exceptionally well by making the Yammy fire like a Honda and behave itself. A good sense of where the bike is as opposed to Rossi himself is around 2 seconds a lap. When he first tested the Yamaha he was a second behind Sete and Max on Hondas. The rest of the Yamaha's were three seconds out. He is simply the real deal and is set to become agruably better than Doohan by swapping bikes (but not teams). |

I'd rather talk about how great the bikes were than how boring some F1 races are. And this was certainly a special MotoGP race. Seeing Rossi ride the wheels off that Yamaha was amazing. Everyone else on the Yamahas was well back in the pack, and yet Rossi's instantly fighting with Max at the front. Even Sete wasn't really competitive witht he ultiamte pace. With Pons and Gresini still to test the new parts, Ducati likely to improve, and Kawasaki and Suzuki seemingly competitive, this should eb the best season in years.
