Laminating Inkjet Prints

Does laminating inkjet prints prolong their life?
I would assume it must slow down the fading process a little as it creates a barrier to the outside world though I suppose it could also magnify the light and therefore speed up the process.
Any informed opinion out there as you can see I'm totally at sea

I think it certainly helps, though ink technology has improved in recent times and should not need laminating. At work I'm about to take delivery of a new inkject printer + laminator for upto A0 size . Once I work out how it all works I may be able to offer a service to print and laminate posters.

I've been using a 2100 for most of this year and have been really pleased with it. The only thing you might have to watch for is that it's really picky about the media you put through it - I've found that if you use any photo-quality paper other than Epson's own then the rollers leave marks because the ink doesn't dry quickly enough.

It may still be worth looking down the lamination route as well Paul because inkjets by their nature squirt the ink onto the surface of the paper and are therefore more susceptible to scratching or lifting than either a dyesub or laminated print.
