Lotus 44's; there were only 3 off and all started life with Ron Harris Team Lotus.

You are probably correct, a lot of them will all be mixed up, people calling out 27's as 32's etc. 3 x 27 came over here, and only 1 x 32, as opposed to the 32B. I have copies of the Lotus ch. list for the 27's and also most of the 27 sales cards giving ex. factory specification etc. and dates they left the works. I'd love to see the final chassis history details. Do any of the 44's survive, they were the prettiest of all IMHO?

Here's a little more, non F1R information [From contemporary journals]

Paul,
I was recently told of a Lotus 44 in S France fitted with F2 BRM still in RH-TL colours. I was asked casually what I thought it was worth, sight unseen. But have not heard anything since. Kevin |

Cedric Selcer also has a 44 with FI SCA recently sold I believe to Japan?

Unfortunately, none of the 27/32/35/44/48 series monocques ever came here. I might be able to identify with the help of some photos.

In the Lotus Book, the 44 is listed as having 5.5 x 13/9 x 13 tyres on 13 x 7/13 x 10 rims.

Edmonton Formula B 1970 - organiser's entry list handout (so more up to date than the one printed in the programme)
"Deny" Erickson (Spokane, WA) is entered as #92 by Repco NW in a Lotus 44. This would be Robert "Denny" Erickson (or Ericson) who also a Lola T140 at a couple of Formula A races in 1970. The Lotus 44 was advertised by them in October 1970. Allen |

Hello there,I have posted on the Lotus 35 thread bits of the Lotus 44 history.Yes,it was run by Roy Picton,but I am told he had it up to the 90s when it went to a collector of Racing Cars in Sussex,a ?Roger Tolchard.He may have other Lotus chassis as well?I remember this ex Clark car as the only one I ever saw.Ron Harris was in King Street Maidenhead,where I lived at the time,so I was in and out a great deal,as well as FW's at Bath Road.2 Kiwi mechanics made a fabulous sliding gate for the Hewland Mk7 6 speed gearbox.With the 6 ratios the possibilty of getting a wrong gear was not uncommon,so with this sliding gate,it was made easier to get it right.Malcolm Angood(Brit) looked after Jim Clark's car ,but Dewer Thomas made up this super piece of kit,and was excellent at improvisation.I never saw a 44 with the BRM engine,they were in the 35s,but the Fuel Injected 65 SCA was the only engine I saw fitted to those cars-Maybe Robs will still have a memory of this now as Mike Ticehurst(We grew up together) has gone a while back,and those two together got rid of all the Ron Harris stuff.

I think I've seen its 555,000 Swiss francs - ridiculous, or a misprint.
