Portland Testing

PORTLAND, Ore. (April 12, 2006) - Justin Wilson (#9 CDW Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone) was the man to beat last year when the Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford visited Portland, as the RuSPORT driver had everyone covered until an oil pump failure ended his race day.

Wilson literally picked up where he left off Wednesday at Portland International Raceway, leading an 17-driver field on a full day of testing on the 1.964-mile PIR road course. Wilson started the day with the same setup he had on the car last June and built on it from there, eventually posting a best time of 57.680 seconds (122.580 mph).

Ranger absent from Mi-Jack's Portland test

TSN.ca Staff

4/12/2006 8:09:50 AM

Andrew Rangers Champ Car career at Mi-Jack/Conquest may be put on hold as the search for more sponsorship continues.

The team has hired Ryan Briscoe to test for them this week in Portland. He will join Mi-Jack rookie Charles Zwolsman, who will see limited duty at the test due to a back injury sustained during the opening laps of the race in Long Beach. The Dutchamn is also recovering from wrist injuries suffered in a pre-season test at Fontana.

Great to see Wilson at the top of the times, perhaps he can win next time out at Houston. Also nice to see Katherine Legge steadily improving, she put in a good performance at Long Beach and now she is performing well in testing too.

Very slim if the ride is based on cashflow.

If I recall correctly, the people behind the Mi-Jack team (Not Eric Bachelart) are operating the Houston race. I suspect that they would like to have two of their cars in the race.

It seems that Dan Clarke really could impress quite a few people this year. He has been around the middle of the the pack for a rookie with not much testing, I think that's pretty impressive compared to the other rookie of the year contenders for me.

Welll Ranger is contracted for only a few rounds and Ryan Briscoe wants to be in Champ Car. I hope he takes Ranger's place as Ranger wasn't all that impressive in 2005 well not as much as he was hyped.
