Peddler has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Police may use water cannon at Bathurst.. WTF?

As per artical; http://au.news.yahoo.com/071004/2/14lbl.html

Seriously... what the hell will NSW Police think of spending money on next?

Hope they don't use the cannon, the poor coppers wont get off the Mountain alive!
Mind you, a good way of forcing showers on the ferals.
Can they mix detergent in the cannon?

Lighten up, read between the lines.......

If the race gets dull, V8supercars will deploy the water cannon to water down the track to make the race more exciting - why else would it be driving down Pit Straight!!!

Seriously though, the issue of people already been arrested for drug offences is worrying as has been reported on TV and radio - we don't need those scum bags using the great race as an outlet for their produce.

At least if a team needs to clean their windscreen, they can aim that thing at it rather than using a bucket.

Apparently the police 'honed their skills at APEC'. They did an excellent job there. "We're expecting those blokes from The Chaser to try to find their way past our super-duper security, so we're really cracking down".

Does that mean anyone can carry in as much alcohol and drugs as they like?

Looking forward to next weeks Chaser if the same cops that were at APEC are involved in security. I can see Chas now trying to drive a truck with <insert favourite beer companies name> on the side of it into the campgrounds.

the bit that hasnt been considered is the fact that with the current water restrictions, the water cannon is being taken to the top of the hill to fill the tank, thanks to the beer swilling crowd ( we all know what happens when we drink a lot dont we?? ) Thatll be a lesson for the next public outcry when the cannon might actually have to be used.

as for the chaser turning up, bring it on, with thier apec efforts, perhaps they may end up on the tail of the grid sitting with the "chase" cars.....

Just spoke to a plod from our local Highway Patrol who told me there is quite a contingent of riot boys on the hill this weekend. He said they are planning a "major crackdown on anti-social behaviour...."

Anti-social?
The campground at McPhillamy??

Surely they jest!

I agree with the drug thing we don't need that **** them people off, but as far as a bit of grog goes thats alright, i hope the Chasers do pull something off make the event really interesting, i can see them driving up pit straight with a car load of fake grog etc and the cops jumping all over them and the stuff ain't real .

Interesting to read that the police are searching cars and confiscating "excess alcohol" - what law is being breached or are the police being treated as a security contractor by V8SC?

Good idea actually! Also could come in handy to put some of the fires out!

It's easy Pro Racer all you do is multiply the same 50,000 who come through the gate each day using their 1 four day pass by 4.

Drugs, guns and nails: 30 arrested ahead of Bathurst 1000

Updated Thu Oct 4, 2007 2:24pm AEST

Map: Bathurst 2795
More than 30 people have been arrested ahead of this weekend's Bathurst 1000 car races at Mount Panorama over crimes including drug and gun possession, and nail attacks.

New South Wales Assistant Commissioner Garry Dobson says one person has been arrested for throwing nails at people at the site in the state's central west.

Mr Dobson says most of the other arrests involved the possession of drugs and guns.

He says police have also issued several cautions for cannabis possession and a large quantity of alcohol has been confiscated.

"People just aren't seeming to get the message that we are serious this year about making sure that everyone has a good time and can come to the event, enjoy it with their family their friends and leave in a similar mood," he said.

Racegoers are only allowed to enter Mount Panorama with one carton of standard drinks per adult, but glass items are banned.

They have been warned that anyone found with prohibited items will be removed from the site and refused re-entry for Sunday's race.

More than 300 officers from across the state, including police from the riot squad, have been deployed for the lead-up to the annual event.

Checkpoints have been set up at entrances to the race track to screen vehicles for prohibited items.

Sounds like a plan.

Set up a few road blocks and grab the idiots with outstanding warrants as they try to get into the track.

Mind you, at the Sandown 500 it was eight bucks for a can of jimmy and coke....Be cheaper chartering a chopper to drop supplies........

Yeah, everyone chip in a few bucks and we'll fly the beer in......

I don't think the water cannon is the answer. Live amuniton on some of the criminals would be better.
