Escort Thundersaloon History???
Hi guys, im not a regular poster on here but always check back every now and again to see whats going on.
I have a mk2 escort and was wondering if anyone can confirm the history on it? I THINK it might be the 87-88 Class B thundersaloon IMEX sponsered mk2 raced by Robert Bridger and Paul Sherwood but would like confirmation. Dont know too much about it, all i know is that it was raced in Hillclimb events with a Mass built X-flow in a blue colout scheme. Here are some pics, it has been painted very recently and i hope to put a nice and quick N/A YB in the hole which was what the IMEX car (if it is the one) ran back in the day. http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y22...t=DSC_0848.jpg It has very deep link boxes to get the ride height low (Chassis is 60mm off the floor!) and it might have been fabricated by the late Milton Motorsport. Is there any classic 'tell-tale' signs of a Milton built car? Thanks for looking, any information to help ID the car would be greatly appreciated! Sam. |

I can ask Rob Bridger if you like? He is a great chap and lives up the road from me.
Lovely looking car by the way. |

If Rob could explain some details or certain identifying parts of the car to positively ID it that would be amazing. Also, some history on the old girl would be great. Thanks buddy, Sam. |

I don't remember it running a N/A YB, far too heavy. IIRC it ran a Cosworth BDX at 2.5L

Hi Sam, Yeah the bridger car definately ran a N/A YB .
I spoke to Tim Swadkin the other day and showed him a pic of your car he was 99.9 % sure that it was his old car . He ran the car in thundersaloons and then sold it to Bridger. |

Hopefully that can confirm. The front inner wings have partially been removed and the bulkhead taken out. I think this was done by Peter Thurston for fitment of the rover v8. Thanks again mate! |

Correct Andy. Paul Caudrey bought it when Nathan emigrated to Oz. It was at Pete Thurstons yard for ages, then Pete sold it for Paul, to whom we know not. Looks the same beast, only white. Had the original 3500 Rover V8 in it that was originally in Petes Escort years ago.
