hyphen should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
re: Wentworth / Whitworth

I was searching for Wentworth earlier. Is Wentworth slang for Whitworth? or a metric variant?

regardless, I found mentions of Whitworth std being used in autos & machinery but is there any proof that this thread type was used in auto brake/fuel lines? in the 1940's?

Wentworth is a misprint. The only references I could find to it were obvious errors in titling net pages. British Standard Whitworth threads were still the mainstay of industry in the 30s and 40s - export cars were sold to traditional Empire markets, which used the same standard. It was not until after WW2 that most firms re-tooled to SAE standards.

In the late 60's the UK started to move away from Whitworth to AF (accross the flats)
