888 want to keep Egg pair
Triple 8 are hoping to retain satellite dup Matt Neal and Paul O'Neill by finding funding to run the pair in another satellite team with different backing as their "prefered choice" Other options include O'Neill signing for GA Motorsport while Neal may retrun to his family run Team Dynamics.

I can't see exactly why they are so keen for O'Neill to remain with them for next season, as he wasn't really that impressive.
GA and Dynamics ran as one last season, so maybe that will be the case in 2003, with Vauxhalls driven by Neal, O'Neill and Pyper, leaving those paying hacks Blencowe and Saunders back in Proddies? |

Star Internet will sponsor the main Triple Eight squad (Thompson & Muller). They are not a replacement for Egg. I have to admit I thought it was saying Star Internet was Eggs replacement but when I read it again its quite clear its not.

hmmm... well saying that I don't think the two need a sponsor. I would see it more likely they are one of a few egg replacements??

Sim, you may want to go back and re-read that 'full story', or better still go to Triple Eight's website for an even fuller version. What it says is that Star will become A sponsor, it doesn't say they will be title-sponsor to the race team and it certainly does say they will replace Egg. More accurately Star are a trade supplier to 888 who have probably done a deal for services in exchange for signage on the cars. Aside from the fact it's an odd time to be making major sponsorship announcements (with Autosport Show so close) do you not think it would have been less low-key. If it had been for an Egg replacement there would have been refernces to the Astra, the drivers, the championship etc etc. In fact if you read it the BTCC is only mentioned in passing. |

It will be a toss up for the second factory team of Astra being in the BTCC next year. MG is cutting back its factory support effort giving out customer cars.
