Question about the pits
being bored at work as you get I got to thinking about Moto GP and the pit layout.
How does this work , Ive never really thought about it before. But on the telecasts you see the managers sitting on the wall and the team behind them in the pits watching TV or working on bikes. thats all well and good but there is 3 classes ? How does this work then , because from the TV it looks as if they all have their own pit bays ? is this the case ? I mean the 125's have their race and if someone retires they ride straight into a pit bay ? surely there isnt that many pit bays is there ? look at the numbers 60 or 70 bikes over 3 classes is usually the norm , so where do they fit them all ? do they share pit bays ? is it like a rotating system one race finishes , one team moves out and the next class moves in ( I doubt that actually because of the time it would take to move them out) I dunno how it works , so if someone could help me out a little I can get on with being bored more at work and thinking of other stuff to post about CHEERS Marcus |

I think that most of the small 125 don't have own pit boxes. I remember commentators saying that Ajo Motorsports don't have for example.

A lot of the smaller teams will also share a garage with another team.

From what I've seen, it's mostly pit-sharing, one/two 125 teams, one/two 250 teams and a MotoGP team to a garage. But I'm not 100% sure on that.
It wouldn't take that much to put up signing and such between races. |

there are some teams that have both 125&250 bikes . so i think they share the garage . and maybe the mechanics too

There are several teams, mainly 125 teams, who have their bikes and equipment in tents behind the paddock IIRC.

I'm down to do some observing in the pits for the Bike GP at Donington - I'll find out for definite and post a response then
