biomatics has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Do drivers really wet themselves?

When racing I have heard that when nature calls, a lot of driver just let go and wet themselves. Is this true? Anyone know of any drivers aho have do this?

even tho its a p..s poor topic...... its true.

What are they going to do, hop out for a toilet break. The only time I have ever seen this happen was at the Bathurst touring car race, when Kiwi racer Greg Murphy was given a 5 minute (!!) stop go penalty

At Le Mans a few years back there was a well-known sports car driver who let it slip, during a live interview directly after he handed over the car, that he had "relieved" himself while doing his stint.

I remember Alan Jones saying that he did once or twice during his F1 Career.

they go right before they get into the car and lose enough water through sweat that their kidneys don't really pull much more water out of their blood during the course of the race. Also, if you've ever driven competetively before you'll know that your mind is way too occupied and your body too tense to worry about that stuff.

Yes they do...

I have heard a (well known) driver confess to doing it... His mechanics were really happy as there was another race to go and they still had to work on the car...

I've heard DC admit to it before in interviews, if you're stuck in a race car with no where to go there's not a lot of choice involved.

I had a couple of races where I was thinking about having a whizz. One year in the Spa 6 Hours, I pitted to sort out an engine problem (a rocker arm had snapped) and thought it would take a while to sort. I had been sitting in the car for 15 minutes whilst the mechanics worked on it when I developed an urge to syphon the python. Unknown to me the problem was solved very quickly as they just replaced the whole rocker assembly with a spare! They would not let me run to le p1ssoir down the hill, pay 20 francs and relieve myself, saying there was not time. My co-driver handily pointed to the sink in the pit garage, 'use that', he said, so I did. It was a little high of the ground, but by standing back from the rim I could project the flow into the bowl. Flushing was simple, I turned on the taps!
As some of you may know, there is wire mesh separating the pits at Spa and the young Belgian lady in the pit next door got a japs eyeful of me in full flow. The end result? I was fully relieved and ready for another hour in the car, my co-driver would not have to sit in a warm puddle for his stint, and I got the number of a very nice Belgian girl
