What ever happened to him? Know he had cancer of something, but how is he getting on?
Anyone know anything?

I have not heard anything for a while, I no that he was at the Rally Day at Castle Combe back in August where some of his old cars where on display, I think Colin McRae drove his championship winning Subrau. There where some photos in MN and Autosport and he looked quite ill and was using a wheelchair.

His focus is on being in as comfortable a condition as possible - he won't be rallying again

That's really dreadful news. Things had gone extremely quiet for some time now in regards to Richard's condition. We've not really had many updates to speak of in the press, so I guess the family just want to focus on Richard's rehabilitation. Given that his illness was cerebral, is it potential fitness that's the question mark or just the dexterity to drive competitively ? If the latter, its unlikely we'll ever see him behind the wheel of anything [club or otherwise] again. Really, really sad news indeed.

Perhaps in a couple of years we will see him in minor events as a hobby, but I think he was never realisticaly going to return to the level of fitness required to race at the top level again. It's a real waste, but at least he should live a full life otherwise.

Richard burns was a great driver who risked his life day in day out in a piece of metal which could be easily compressed. the man has huge breavery and fight, and there's no reason why he shouldn't pull through this fighting.
