Maurer F2
I have info about Maurer MM86-006, it should be ex-S.Bellof, is it truth? Since 1987 raced in hillclimbs by Fendrich (still had the car in 1999 as I spoke to him)
Maurer MM83-002 - driven by Wenk in 1987 How many Maurers were made? |

Well don't keep it to yourself then Drifty, or I'll have to park this in the main forum where it runs the risk of dropping out of sight!

however cars where built in 1980 onwards at chevron factory after the 97 car failed to set the world a light with its perfomance
Willi Mauer was a german industrialist i think involved in the drinks industry he was a mentor of Stefan Bellof a stunning debut in F2 in 1982 where he won the 2st 2 races and had "only finished 2nd? in the german fford c/ship the year before Bellof went onto drive for Tyrrell and Porsche 956 cars sadly killed in a Group C race he was fearless which was sadly his undoing see web www.stefanbellof.de/ has english pages He was also the 1st guy to write off a 956 car as well in a previous race or test shunt |

drifty,
From a Kyalami January 1981 programme found this week..."Tony Martin will be driving the newly imported Maurer which lead twice Formula 2 races driven by Beppe Gabianni in the 1980 European Championship".Twice is probably a typo and was meant to read 'two'. Ian |

Would that be the Highveld 100 at Kyalami, where Martin debuts Maurer MM80-04? [oh woops what a giveaway] any chance of a scan of the entry list? Chris |

maybe I can help you. If you are interested in one of the MM81 chassis, I know where two of them are. Maybe one is the thing you´re looking for. |

So #1 must be the ex-Elgh car.
The Austrian #3 must be the ex-Guerrero as the owner said it is the Thruxton winning car. The ex-Winkelhock car is still in original yellow livery and must be #2. Am I right? |

MM81-02 Guerrero [chassis number observed at two British F2 races, including Thruxton, and marked on programme] said to go to ZA for Tony Martin MM81-03 Winkelhock [observed at Donington] Was this the car that then went to ZA for Tilanus? |

Guys, this is not a competition! I know that 'Knowledge is power' but on here, it is only good if you share it. Since Drifty is playing hard to get, perhaps we could develop it into something worthwhile by asking you, Chris, to list those that raced in South Africa in F2.

Agree with what you say John but why should Chris go first. Why not Drifty? Chris has listed all he knows abot a model (in a very organised form) on many occasions.

Is there going to be any clarification regaring these cars ? I saw over on the other forum, that some cars went to the US to race in the FA, notably one MM80 and a MM81.

Sorry, forget my comment I misread the topic it was FA SA instead of FA US Stupid c**k I am, I think I need another coffee!
What I do know for sure is that Maurer had the plan to go into F1 with BMW, I read a prototype was even made, which was based on a MM81 chassis Sorry again, just forget it guys! |
