Active Suspension

because im interested in how things work and what they do etc, i wondered after hearing loads on this so-called 'active suspension' what the hell it is and how it benefitted the car in question.

im not sure what a differential is as well and its doing my knut in!!! has this any connection with the active suspension or am i just a bit dense?!
