The series will stage a Saturday night double-header in conjunction with the Craftsman Truck Series on September 25, which would fill the vacancy on the schedule after the event at Lagua Seca and before the inaugural race in Seoul, South Korea.

This is awesome news!
- Racing in Las Vegas
- Another oval on the schedule
- Repairing the rift with SMI
- Exposure to NASCAR fans
- A night race

More info from CART.com...
It's gonna be 400 miles, beginning at 9PM (PT) on the Saturday night. That's a pretty late start!

Speedway officials also announced that the current ticket prices for Sept. 25 will not change. However, there will be a Champ Car package ticket available. The Champ Car package includes a reserved seat in the Dale Earnhardt Terrace and a paddock pass. The Champ Car package is $61.50 and is available only through the LVMS ticket office.

As said above, another oval. This is good news, adds variety (as I always say!).
And a night race, again more variety!
I hope they can pull in a decent crowd in NASCAR country.

No, it's better that it's an oval, makes the oval set-up more economical.
Hopefully increases the chances of keeping ovals, long term too!
Great news!

The DALE EARNHARDT TERRACE? Deliver me.
However, I shall be there for the Champ Car and open wheel bits and I am sure I can find something to do during the truck races.
P.S. to Kicking-Back: Thank you for the bucket full of cold water you felt impelled to pour on this great thread. Heaven help us if we got all the way through one happy event without that.

Wow that's a surprise move. Is there any hope that the race will get broadcasted LIVE in the US and Canada? I think it's great that we're getting another oval and a big one at that.
I think a REALLY good part is that the Trucks should mean that there will be people there because of the trucks race and an oportunity to grab some new fans. It would also help if the Trucks and CART were broadcasted back to back on the same station. Another positive is that perhaps we have a bit of a break in the battle between the France-related interests and CART.
