Isn't it sad that I can't tell you because I don't get the 2nd IRL race of the year in our country on cable?

Good race? That was not magically delicious to me, mate. Helio getting by Dixon was about the only interesting duel.

Hey, at least a red car didn't win
Pleased to see Will Power get the victory; his patience is paying off. I can only imagine how he'd be doing in the points if he was a full-time competitor, he looked strong even on the oval at Indy.
Not much else to get excited about over this race, though.

The race almost went the whole way without a caution. But with 2 laps to go Tomas Scheckter goes into the wall. This would of been the first race in IndyCar history to go all the way without a caution.
Here are the results..
1. #12 Will Power
2. #3 Helio Castroneves
3. #9 Scott Dixon
4. #6 Ryan Briscoe
5. #10 Dario Franchitti
6. #15 Paul Tracy
7. #02 Graham Rahal
8. #18 Justin Wilson
9. #06 Robert Doornbos
10. #26 Marco Andretti
11. #7 Danica Patrick
12. #13 EJ Viso
13. #34 Alex Tagliani
14. #27 Hideki Mutoh
15. #4 Dan Wheldon
16. #20 Ed Carpenter
17. #14 Ryan Hunter-Reay
18. #2 Raphael Matos
19. #23 Tomas Scheckter
20. #24 Mike Conway
21. #11 Tony Kanaan
22. #98 Richard Antinucci
23. #5 Mario Moraes

For Last to Lift Off, in case you were one of those who couldn't get the broadcast:
An early bingle left Mikeoff track for about thirty laps. Guess who set fast race lap when he was able to re-enter the fray?
Conway is the only bright spot for me so far this season. I was hoping that Sarah would be competitive, but she has been a non-factor in her only starts and will likely be a backmarker again at Kentucky.
Speaking of which...do the cars run flat around there too? If so, how are the new downforce changes going to improve drafting/ passing? If everyone trims their car out for straightline speed, and they all have equal power and probably equal gearing, more downforce will add stability so I can see how it might be better for running in turbulent air. But is that going to make much of a difference? And since the addition of the aero devices is optional, won't the fast guys opt to run without them anyway, so as not to add drag?

That race was the most boring of the weekend....
And in a weekend where F1 was at HUNGARY, of all places, that says a lot...
Champcar put on some great races here, particularly the first one...
Another lesson that downforce is the enemy of good racing....get it off those cars!!

It's not downforce per se, but how it's produced. There are ways to make it that produce less of a wake/wash than others. IMSA GTPs made immense downforce, but could race each other. Then again, they didn't have those billboard-sized elements with Gurney flaps to make absurd amounts of turbulence behind the cars.
