Dave 455 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Simon is scaring away potential investors, they are not selling many notes or warranties, so they have hired Rodney to run the place, in a bid to give potential investors more confidence, the deadline is in 3 days, will it work? : -

Don't I recall they took on Jayne McGivern (?spelling) to handle the rebuilding work?

Should keep them going until the next deadline 10 days after this one expires.

Farce. Bernie taking a long time to confirm what we all knew in advance. Eventually his agenda will become clear. I'm sure he's known all along what he wants, and is arragning things to ensure he gets it, we just haven't been told what it is yet. What it almost certainly wasn't was a GP at Donington.

His agenda was to have the GP switched to Donnington and they would have to pay him more for the privilege than Silverstone. We've seen it before with other tracks losing GPs in Europe and NorthAmerica and being replaced by GPs in countries with no racing heritage, just a fat wallet. This time it hasn't worked to the detriment of a great track, or looks like it's not going to work, as it was far too big a project to complete on time and as a result it's overbudget, which is what everyone said would happen from the outset. If they get it done Bernie will say I told you so and if they can't he'll weasel out of saying they weren't up to the task.

It just goes from bad to worse. Investors don't rate the proposition nor do they rate Gillett. Does anybody really think they will change their opinion and their rating if Sir Rodney's wheeled in ?

Wheeling in Sir Rodney smacks of desperation. There is little trust in Gillett and of course if the funding round ultimately fails Sir Rod doesn't get his job.

There's also the other little matter of the £33 million odd profit that will be required just to service interest on the debt. No doubt investors will be wrestling with that too.

It should be a fascinating end to the week.

I agree it's not a forgone conclusion but I see Bernie as being 'co-opertaive' with Silverstone. The British GP has been around since F1s inception and was the first F1 GP to be held, back in 1950. I don't think he really wants to lose the British GP or the revenue he can get from it, if he did it could be undermining for him and he wouldn't take that risk.
