FRC 2012 - Round 1: The 12 Hours of Sebring
The 60th Annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh From Florida kicks off FRC 2012. For more information on the FRC and the official 2012 rules, see the Rules and Regs Topic. The 12 Hours will be the opening round of the ALMS and the WEC, so we have a full slate of classes for this round of the competition. Please select pole sitters and race winners in each of the following classes: ALMS P1, P2, GT, PC, and GTC, WEC LMP1, LMP2, LMGTE Pro, and LMGTE AM. Qualifying begins at 3:20pm local track time on Friday March 16 – time zone conversions can be found at the “World Times” link below. Please get your entries in by then! Remember this competition is meant to be friendly and open to everyone, so don’t hesitate to submit an entry!

Everyone was complaining last year when the triple points for LM were introduced, but you do understand what 9 classes with double points means..? Yep 90 points in maximum, which is about 30 points more than what you can get from Le Mans (and 65 more than from regular ALMS round).
But since we kinda have to treat Sebring as two separate events I guess it can work.

I did spend some time thinking about that, but since the promoters are treating Sebring as two separate races that just happen to be occurring at the same time on the same track I felt this approach was fine.
On a side note, after watching the "Sebring Through the Decades" video series on the ALMS website I realized that this type of situation has happened before. I think it was in the 70's when there was a Trans-Am race held within the 12 hours.
